While on a work trip in Augusta, GA, some police officers went to a Chick-Fil-A to eat. Chick-Fil-A typically gives police offers free meals. The problem came when 3 of the white officers got their meal for free however the black officer had to pay for his, now the South Carolina police sergeant that was in full uniform say’s the incident left him humiliated and embarrassed and he is accusing Chick-Fil-A of discrimination.
Following the incident, Police Sgt. Tracey Reid informed his co-workers that he hadn’t received a free meal but requested they not cause a scene. In a letter written to corporate regarding the incident, Reid requested that the store retrain that location’s employees and implement better civil rights practices. He says the manager apologized for how the racial incident was “perceived” and offered two free meals, but that was unsatisfactory.
Chick-fil-A apologized to Reid and claimed the person handling orders that day was a team leader who didn’t typically work behind the counter.
It’s funny the person handling the orders that day still knew to give his white counterparts a free meal and felt it was okay to charge him for his??
