Big up’s are in order Ryan Coogler, an award-winning American filmmaker and producer hailing from Oakland, California and the mastermind behind Black Panther, Fruitvale Station and Creed, has gone where no filmmaker has gone before with his supernatural thriller ‘Sinners’ making history by receiving 16 Academy Award nominations, the most ever for a single film. It surpassed the previous record of 14 nominations held by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land.

Key 2026 Oscar Nominations for Sinners

  • Best Picture: Nominated as a front-runner following a successful box-office run.
  • Best Director: Ryan Coogler.
  • Best Actor: Michael B. Jordan (for his dual role as twin brothers).
  • Best Supporting Actress: Wunmi Mosaku.
  • Best Supporting Actor: Delroy Lindo.
