Singer India Arie Opens Up About Being Physically/Sexual Abused By Her Father A Former NBA Player [LISTEN HERE]

Grammy award winning singer/songwriter India Arie inspired the masses with her smash hits ‘Video’ and ‘I Am Not My Hair’, just to name a few.  However what the masses didn’t know is that while inspiring many she was battling her own deep rooted pain of being physically and sexually abused by a person that was supposed to be her uplifter.

Recently the 49 year singer, whose government name is India Arie Simpson opened up to stop a family curse on Instagram about her and her mother being physically and sexually abused by her father former NBA Ralph Simpson.  (Not Ralph Simpson of the Houston Rockets)

While most people on Fathers Day Sunday took to social media to honor their fathers, India Arie along side her mother Joyce Simpson, took to Instagram to say “No Father’s Day for you, Ralph Simpson.”

“I’m not posting this today to tell you that I’m struggling, because I’m not,” “I’ve spent my entire adult life working through my issues with my father. I’ve come a long way.”   “No Father’s Day for you, Ralph Simpson. A secret has a stench that can rot a family from the inside out and destroy future generations. The family curse stops here on this Father’s Day, June 15, 2025. I’ve kept this secret for over 45 years. My India Arie is a survivor,”
