Singer Bill Withers Has Passed At The Age of 81

Prayers are in order as it is being reported that William Harrison Withers Jr.  better known around the world as the legendary Bill Withers has passed away at the age of 81 from heart complications.

According to a statement from Bill Withers family:

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other,”  “As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world. In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones.”

The world was introduced to Bill Withers as he crooned his way into our hearts with a classic hit that still graces the airwaves til this day  ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’  in 1971 only to follow it up with the anthem of  our struggles ‘Lean On Me’ in 1972 then showed the world that his music brought all a ‘Lovely Day’ in 1977.  The Grammy award winning Bill Withers, at a time when winning such an esteemed music award was a hard feat in itself, life was the subject of a 2009 documentary film titled Still Bill, Withers was also indexed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Bill Withers was survived by his wife, Marcia, and children, Todd and Kori.

We will be keeping the family of Bill Withers uplifted in our prayers and his music will live forever in our hearts.
