Prayers are in order as sad news is being reported that a legend in black cinema, Richard Roundtree, famously known for his role as ‘Shaft’ has passed away at the age 81.
Who is the man that would risk his neck for his brother man? SHAFT!!
According to Richard Roundtree’s manager, Patrick McMinn, the famous actor passed away in his Los Angeles home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. In a statement from McMinn:
“Richard’s work and career served as a turning point for African American leading men in film,” “The impact he had on the industry cannot be overstated.”
Richard Roundtree was an American actor, noted as being “the first black action hero” for his portrayal of private detective John Shaft in the 1971 film Shaft.
Richard Roundtree was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 and underwent a double mastectomy and chemotherapy, before succumbing to pancreatic cancer.
