RHOP Star Karen Huger Completed 28 Days In Rehab, Defense Says Jail Time Is Not Necessary, Prosecution Begs To Differ

The OG of The Real Housewives of Potomac franchise, Karen Huger, has been in serious legal trouble facing jail time following her crashing her car in March 2024, in Potomac, Maryland.  The embarrassing incident was the story line for, Karen Huger for much of RHOP season 9.   Karen Huger was convicted and found guilty of driving under the influence, negligent driving and other charges.  The Grand Dame, Karen Huger, missed the RHOP season 9 reunion in the physical, while sending in a video response as to why she was missing from the group, along with thank you’s for support, and was present for 28 days of rehabilitation.

Karen Huger has now completed her 28 days in rehabilitation and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings daily.  Karen’s defense team is at wok now filing documents saying they doesn’t believe jail time is necessary, and the trial really woke her up and she is doing the work to prove so. 

However the lead prosecution,  Jordan Kramer, isn’t moved by Huger’s attempt at bettering herself and is calling for at least 6 months jail time.

“The fact that Ms. Huger has repeatedly been given the benefit of another chance on three separate occasions demonstrates that she has not learned anything from her prior arrests,”  “In fact, it appears as if she has been emboldened.” …“The State is concerned that the program that Ms. Huger did choose to enroll in equates itself to a luxury resort experience,”

This is fourth alcohol related traffic incident, three happened from 2006 to 2011, and resulted in ‘a guilty finding for driving while impaired and another for driving under the influence’, in which she was able to avoid jail time. 

Karen Huger’s new attorney is trying to get her a sentence that will keep her out of jail. Karen is expected to make her last plea before the sentencing judge.

In addition to being a RHOP staple, Karen Huger is officially set to appear on the new African American daytime soap opera, Behind the Gates.  Per CBS’ official logline, Beyond the Gates takes place “in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States.

Behind the Gates premieres on CBS Monday, February 24, 2025, airing Monday – Friday at 2pm.
