RHOA Dwight Eubanks Say’s Prostate Cancer Diagnosis Missed Early Because Doctors Were Focused On His HIV

Before everyone gets in an uproar, sometimes we need to hear everyone’s truth in order to save someone else.  Real Housewives of Atlanta OG, Dwight Eubanks is speaking out because he is saying that doctors missed his prostate cancer diagnosis early because they were more focused on his HIV diagnosis.

For those who did not know, or ever traveled to/through Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, 64-year-old celebrity hairstylist, as well as a staple on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Dwight Eubanks, has always been an advocate for AIDS/HIV awareness, specifically in the black community, as a matter of fact his picture used to be on the wall of the airport about his endeavors.

Recently Dwight Eubanks shared with PEOPLE that he himself is HIV positive and it’s because of that diagnosis that doctors missed the early signs of his newest diagnosis prostate cancer, which was discovered after getting blood work at a church health fair in January of 2025.  Eubanks says he didn’t have any symptoms, follow-up testing confirmed he did have prostate cancer.  But what made things worse was finding out that his cancer could’ve been spotted way back in 2022. Dwight, who’s been living with HIV since the 80s, gets regular checkups every six months. But his doctors completely missed the warning signs.

“I was shocked. I was angry,”

“They looked back at my records and saw my PSA levels were high in 2022. Nobody told me,”  “He just said, ‘You’re undetectable, so you’re fine.’ Never mentioned anything about my prostate.”

Dwight Eubanks, who will be a featured speaker at ZERO Prostate Cancer’s Virtual Education and Support Summit, continued on explain why he is speaking his truth.

“I could not be silent with this because it could help people if they just get tested and don’t wait too long. And most important: ask questions, look at your records, investigate,”  “I can’t say what should have, could have, or would have been, but I just have to embrace where I am now and be grateful and try to help somebody else along the way.”
