Rapper Rakim’s Master Plan Earns Him An Honorary Degree From John Hopkins University

Eric B. asked Rakim “what’s up?,” in Paid In Full, and he responded, “I’m doing the knowledge, E, man, I’m trying to get paid in full,” and for his knowledge in Hip Hop Pioneer Rakim received An Honorary Degree From John Hopkins University.

Big up’s are in order as Hip Hop legend Rakim made history at Johns Hopkins University as the first rapper to receive the George Peabody Medal and deliver the 2025 Peabody Conservatory commencement address.  Rakim was also served with an honorary degree from Johns Hopkins and took home the prestigious George Peabody Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Music and Dance in America.

Eric B. and Rakim’s 1986 debut single, “Eric B. Is President,” ushered in a new era for rap, while Paid In Full is one of the most influential Hip-Hop records of all time.
