Rapper Mystical Sentenced To 20 Years After Pleading Guilty To Rape [VIDEO]

Back in 2022 we reported that New Orleans native, 52 year old Michael Tyler, best known as the rapper Mystikal, had been arrested and booked in an Ascension Parish jail after being accused of rape for the third time in the past two decades.  Reportedly almost 4 years later the 55 year old rapper Mystical has been sentenced to 20 years in prison without the possibility of parole being given credit for time already served after pleading guilty to reduced charges of third-degree rape.

The victim appeared before the court on Tuesday and asked for the maximum sentence, according to WBRZ. She spoke of the incident where Mystikal “choked her, pulled braids out of her hair and forcibly raped her.” After she spoke, the rapper told the courtroom, “If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence.”

Michael Tyler AKA Mystikal was charged in 2002 with aggravated rape and extortion by his then-hairstylist. The victim alleged he forced her to perform sex acts on him and two bodyguards in retaliation for allegedly cashing $80,000 worth of unauthorized checks from his account.  The incident was caught on film so Mystikal pleaded guilty to a sexual battery charge and served 6 years in jail.  Then in 2016 the ‘Danger’ rapper was charged with first degree rape and after spending 18 months in jail and posting a $3 million dollar bond, the DA’s office dropped the charges.

Days before sentencing, Mystical filed a motion seeking to withdraw his guilty plea, arguing he had not fully understood the consequences and was under significant emotional pressure when he entered it.

Mystical would have been facing a life sentence had he been convicted of initial charges that included first-degree rape, simple criminal damage to property, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, simple robbery, and false imprisonment in the assault.
