R. Kelly found himself in a heap of trouble from the fall-out of ‘Surviving R. Kelly’. Another documentary that broke hearts was his daughter, Buku Abi’s documentary, ‘Karma: A Daughter’s Journey’ where Buku Abi, decided to speak out publicly for the first time about the alleged abuse she suffered throughout her childhood at the hands of her own father R. Kelly. Buku Abi is now speaking publicly again, this time to clear the air about misconceptions about her and her father Robert Kelly.
During a recent interview with Reginae Carter on Heir Time, Buku Abi addressed the long-standing assumption that she hates her father following her past allegations of sexual abuse, making it clear that while she believes accountability matters, her feelings toward him are often misunderstood and that holding someone responsible for harm doesn’t automatically erase familial love.
“I love my father,” …“He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me.”
