President Donald Trump Wants Cleveland Guardians Name To Go Back To Cleveland Indians

There has been a lot going on in America since President Donald Trump took office in January of 2025, with Government offices being closed, people losing their jobs, getting rid of DEI, making a Tennessee woman who he gave clemency too his new clemency adviser, or “pardon czar.”, brokering an Israel-Iran cease fire,, slapping other countries with tariffs, all while trying to make Russia and the Ukrainian play nice.  Just to name a few.  But President Trump still makes time to ‘tell us how he feels’ about things that would ‘Make America Great Again’, such as the Cleveland Guardians changing their name back to the Cleveland Indians.

The Cleveland Guardians changed their name from the Cleveland Indians due to growing concerns and criticism surrounding the use of Native American imagery and the “Indians” nickname, which were seen as culturally offensive and harmful. The decision to change the name came after a period of reflection and dialogue with fans, community leaders, and Native American groups.

However President Trump doesn’t agree taking to his personal social media platform ‘Truth Social’ to say,  “Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen.” In that same social media breath President Trump also says,  “The Washington ‘Whatevers’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this.”….”GET IT DONE!!!”

In a meeting with reporters Sunday, Guardians’ president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said that he was unaware of Trump’s statements prior to the meeting and that changing the name back to the ‘Indians’ was “not something [he has been] tracking or [has] been paying a lot of attention to.”
