Pastor Marvin Winans Explains and Perceived Rebuked Member Stands By Him: The Real Story Behind The Viral Video [VIDEO]

Pastor Marvin Winans has been getting dragged for not showing graciousness to a church member who donated $1,200 and he asked for $2000 in a video that has gone viral.  Saints wil tell you with any scripture you have to read before the highlighted scripture and after it to get the true context.  That’s when another clip giving context to the viral video was shared by a gospel artist.  Pastor Marvin Winans is now responding to the viral video as well as the perceived rebuked member Roberta McCoy, who say’s that we got it twisted and Roberta McCoy stands in the gap with her pastor.

The viral moment we seen went down at Detroit’s Perfecting Church amid their “Day of Giving.”  Pastor Winans seemed to rebuke Roberta McCoy for her donation of $1,235, which was short of the $2,000 he asked members for.  In a recent interview, Roberta McCoy stood by Pastor Winans, noting that he did not “rebuke” her, but gave a “correction” about the specific instructions for how the donations were meant to be given. Pastor Winans shared similar sentiments, saying he simply “told everybody to listen and come when called.”

Pastor Marvin Winans in an interview explained his actions during the event were meant to maintain order and ensure elderly members wouldn’t have to stand for extended periods.

“I was calling because the whole church was giving, and it was our day of giving, and the whole church was coming, and we didn’t want people standing, the mothers and all that, so I was calling them by increments,” … “And we had someone that had given out of before, and I corrected it, and I told everybody to listen and come when you call, and that’s all that was.”

Pastor Marvin Winans said that he apologized to member Roberta McCoy, who is a long standing member of Detroit’s Perfecting Church, following the incident.
