‘One Sweet Day’ Lil Unknown Battle History Fact Between Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey [VIDEO]

Today’s ‘Battle of The Best’ on the Sam Sylk show is between Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.  It’s a known fact that when Mariah Carey burst into the music scene in 1990 with her Grammy Award winning single ‘Vision Of Love’, comparisons between Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston ran rampant.  After years of being compared to one another, Carey opened up about the actual relationship she had with Houston who had passed away unexpectedly in 2012.   Mariah Carey insisted that the public’s narrative of rivalry between the two women was not based in reality, “Well, it was the people that put us to hate each other,”.   That maybe so, but where there is smoke there’s fire, and as great as both these women were/are vocally a slight competition would seem to be quite natural.

Boyz II Men as well as Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown recently sat down in a podcast interview on ‘On That Note’ and shared a lil unknown battle history fact that went down between Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, where they revealed that Whitney Houston got in her feelings about Boyz II Men recording ‘One Sweet Day’ with Mariah Carey and how she wanted to record with Boyz II Men bad.

Whitney Houston’s final Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, Grammy award winning song, “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)”, was replaced at the top spot after just one week by “One Sweet Day” recorded by Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey that went on to be Grammy nominated.

According to Boyz II Men they believe that had they recorded ‘One Sweet Day’ with Whitney Houston, that she would have taken that timeless classic to whole other level.

Whitney and Mariah went on to became friends and even teamed up for their own hit duet in 1998, “When You Believe” in which earned two Grammy awards in 1999.
