No Charges Will Be Filed in No-Knock Warrant Killing of Amir Locke [VIDEO]

Back in February in a scene that was reminiscent of Breonna Taylor however taking place in the city where an ex-police officer killed George Floyd, another Minneapolis police officer along with the Minneapolis SWAT team went to a residence to a serving a warrant in a homicide investigation with a no-knock warrant service.  Within seconds of busting through the door of the apartment police shot and killed a 22 year old black man named Amir Locke.  Much like what happened to Breonna Taylor, whom till this days has not received justice, prosecutors declined to file charges against the Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot Amir Locke.

According to a statement;

“After a thorough review of all available evidence … there is insufficient admissible evidence to file criminal charges in this case,”

Body camera video released by police shows the footage on 2/2/22 of an officer using a key to unlock the door and enter, followed by at least four officers in uniform and protective vests, time-stamped at about 6:48 a.m. As they enter, they repeatedly shout, “Police, search warrant!” They also shout “Hands!” and “Get on the ground!” The video shows an officer kick a sectional sofa, and Locke, who was wrapped in a blanket on the sofa, begins to move, holding a pistol. Three shots are heard, and the video ends.

Amir Locke was in legal possession of a firearm, inside the apartment, at the time he was shot according to prosecutors, but they said that wasn’t relevant to the investigation.

Karen Wells, Amir Locke’s mother, said she was not going to give up fighting for her son.

“This is not over. You may have been found not guilty, but in the eyes of me, being the mother who I am, you are guilty,”  “And I’m not going to give up. Continue to have your restless nights, because I know you do.”
