If you are a fan of The Weeknd then you might know the history of him being a successful independent artist and King of Coachella long before being signed to a record label. As a matter of fact his first released album as a signed artist was a combination of tracks from music that had already been released by him to his cult like following via downloads. In other words, Canadian, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye AKA The Weeknd would be the new millennium Master P. The Weeknd who had so much faith in his talents that he dropped out of high school, left on a weekend and never returned, decision that has garnered him over 70 million records sold, three Grammy Awards, eight Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards and an Academy Award nomination.
Yesterday The Weeknd provided new music as well as a new music video for our entertainment for after we stuffed our bellies, titled ‘Blinding Lights’ and the track is fire. However the music video clearly let’s you know that The Weeknd is sponsored by Mercedes Benz, so we are not sure if this is a car commercial or a new video music release or a combination of both.
