New Jersey Man Pulled Over And Arrested For Wearing A Hoodie In 80 Degree Weather [VIDEO]

A New Jersey man was pulled over and arrested for wearing a hoodie in 80 degree weather.  The man says it was racially motivated, the police chief says it was a lawful stop.

Jamaal Holmes of New Jersey shared video of a June 2 traffic stop in which he says officers began following him after he left his apartment complex on the way to pick up his son before eventually pulling him over. When Holmes asked why he was stopped, an officer responded,

“I was a little concerned, looked like you were reaching down, hiding your face when we came by. You’re wearing a sweatshirt in 80-degree weather.”

Officers after Holmes questioned their reasoning for stopping him asked him to step out the vehicle.  Holmes refused and asked to speak with a supervisor

Police then informed Holmes that his vehicle inspection had expired, removed him from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.   Holmes was later released then given a summons for obstruction and resisting arrest and a ticket for the expired inspection.

Jackson Police Chief Mary Nelson says the incident remains under investigation however according to her the stop and arrest were lawful.
