Back in 2022 New Orleans native, Michael Tyler, best known as the rapper Mystikal, had been arrested and booked in an Ascension Parish jail after being accused of rape for the third time in the past two decades. Mystikal was charged with first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery, and false imprisonment. It is now 2025 and Mystikal has reportedly pled guilty to a lesser charge of third-degree rape.
Michael Tyler aka Mystikal was facing life in prison for first-degree rape, now as part of his plea deal, Mystikal now faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
Michael Tyler AKA Mystikal was charged in 2002 after a woman who had been admitted to the emergency room accused him of rape and battery. According to investigators, the victim suffered minor injuries during the assault. The victim had told investigators Tyler beat and choked her, then took her phone and keys to stop her from leaving. She also said he forced her to send him money via CashApp after the assault.
The rapper, Mystikal, has a long history of sexual abuse charges. He faced similar allegations in 2004 after sexually assaulting his hairstylist. He spent six years in prison following the arrest and registered as a sex offender upon his release. In 2012, he was jailed for three months on misdemeanor domestic abuse charges. Five years later, he was charged with rape and kidnapping before authorities dropped the case.
Mystikal rose to fame in the mid-1990s as part of Master P’s No Limit Records.
