This is really hard to make this make sense, or is it. A Mississippi black man is being charged with shooting a white man although authorities say that the white man was the aggressor.
Reginald Butler has been charged with felony aggravated assault following a violent series of events in Adams County. According to Sheriff Patten, the situation began with an altercation involving Butler and three white men. After that incident, Butler went to a nearby friend’s house, retrieved a legal firearm, and rode his bike back toward the area where the first confrontation had taken place. Then a second altercation with a different white male occurred, not connected to the original group, and the white male ended up shot. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the FBI were brought in and later confirmed that Butler was not the aggressor in either encounter, but charge still stands.
Sheriff Travis Patten confirmed that Butler has since been released on a $50,000 bond, and that while the case is still active, the facts now point to Butler having acted in self-defense.
