Just A Kid from Akron, LeBron James is the honorary chair of this year’s star-studded Met Gala event in New York City to be held today, Monday, May 5th. The NBA great took to ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter to announce that he was benching himself due to injury and sending in Mrs. Savannah James.
King LeBron James will not be gracing the Met Gala 2025 red carpet with his presence. Just hours before fashion’s biggest night is set to kick off, the Los Angeles Lakers star announced he will not be attending due to a knee injury he sustained at the end of the NBA season last week.
“Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! This would have been LeBron James’ first time at the Met Gala. The Met Gala event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which is the theme for the gala. The Met Gala’s dress code — which is slightly different from the theme — is “Tailored for You.” It is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting
