Arguably one of the greatest albums of all time was ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, so much so that many never realized that it was the only solo studio album that Lauryn Hill ever released. Music fans has always asked the question why Lauryn Hill never recorded another and L Boogie has never gave an answer…until now.
Lauryn Hill made Grammy history with “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”winning five solo Grammy awards in 1998, becoming the first woman to win five or more awards in a single night. The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is also credited as the first hip-hop album to earn Album Of The Year. Sunday night during the 2024 BET Lauryn Hill showed and proved her greatness during an epic performance.
The Lauryn Hill’s one and done reveal came in the comments of a viral Instagram post from from FRAIM who explored Lauryn Hill’s disappearance from the spotlight following the success of her Grammy-winning 1998 debut. The post pointed to industry pressure, battles over creative control, emotional exhaustion, and her desire to protect her personal freedom as possible reasons behind her absence from the mainstream music world.
For those that think celebrities aren’t watching Lauryn Hill is evidence that not only are the watching but sometimes they have something to say. Lauryn Hill in a lengthily comment on the post shared that people rarely discuss “the drain” that comes with trying to create “with integrity” inside the music industry, suggesting that massive commercial success can sometimes corrupt art, writing that “wild success can cause greed that begins to denigrate the art for the money.”
Lauryn Hill also reflected on the creation of both The Score and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, claiming neither project existed because artists were simply “allowed” to make them, but that they had to right “for every inch.” while also stating that “systems fear what they can’t control,” and creativity is strongest when it’s free.
