Gene Simmons of KISS Say’s Hip Hop Doesn’t Belong In Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, But It’s The Way He [VIDEO]

There has always been a back and forth about what music genre deserves this or that.  Recently founding member of KISS rock band, Gene Simmons in a recent interview said that Hip Hop does NOT belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame !!  Why??  Because it’s not rock and roll !! However the reasoning to make his point has some raising their eyebrows.  “It’s not my music. I don’t come from the ghetto. It doesn’t speak my language.”

In a recent episode of the Legends N Leaders podcast, the 75-year-old KISS bassist, Gene Simmons, had spoke about hip-hop’s place in Rock Hall, saying that some that are worthy are not getting in opposed to some in the Hip Hop category does.  According to Gene Simmons he has had this same conversation/debate with rapper legend Ice Cube with whom Simmons respects.

“The fact, for instance, that Iron Maiden is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, when they can sell out stadiums, and Grandmaster Flash is,”  “Ice Cube and I had a back and forth—he’s a bright guy and I respect what he’s done. It’s not my music. I don’t come from the ghetto. It doesn’t speak my language.”… “I said in print many times: hip-hop does not belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, nor does opera, [and] symphony orchestras. How come the New York Philharmonic doesn’t get the Rock & Roll ? ‘Cuz it’s called the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.”

KISS who was formed in 1973 by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10, 2014, fifteen years after first becoming eligible. The ceremony honored the four original members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss despite controversy over the exclusion of later members and the band’s refusal to perform, resulting in a tense yet polite reunion.

Does he have a point or nah !?
