There has been many in the music industry that has serious issues with ‘AI’ following AI singer named Xania Monet “the first known AI artist to earn enough radio airplay to debut on a Billboard radio chart.” One of those is singer/song writer/reality star, K. Michelle, that so much so, that she is planning on filing a lawsuit against AI R&B singer Xania Monet for allegedly stealing her voice.
Music fans have been vocal on social media as well as coming to K. Michelle saying that Xania Monet sounds just like K. Michelle, people have now been coming to K. Michelle asking can they write for her. K. Michelle has had enough and has taken to a live video to let loose her vocals about how she is not happy about Xania Monet, the world of AI and she plans on lawyering up.
“You know what? I don’t need nobody writing me no songs right now. I got so much built-up tension. AI people using my tones, and my voice, and all of that. And now I gotta go find a lawyer. All types of stuff going on.”
Telisha “Nikki” Jones the creator of the AI artist Xania Monet, recently appeared in an interview with the Queen of interviews Gayle King about the controversial rise of AI-generated music. During the interview, Gayle King questioned Jones’s artistic authenticity, given that Jones does not sing herself and the AI provides the voice for Xania Monet. Jones defended her work by emphasizing that she writes all the lyrics and curates the final product, viewing Xania as an extension of her own artistry rather than a shortcut. Gayle King also asked Telisha Jones about the elephant in the room, would it be okay if a person of non color were to create an A.I. artist of color, when cricket’s appeared, before she gave an unsure answer.
