We have all heard the stories as well as seen videos of women that fly down to Miami, Florida to get cosmetic procedures.  It’s allegedly cheaper to get it done in Miami.  The patient usually gets her procedure done then her hotel room becomes a recovery room for some days.  Allegedly they return to the doctor for their able to return note and they fly back home.  Unfortunately a Houston was denied safe passage by Spirit Airlines following an undisclosed cosmetic procedure even though she had a doctors note stating she could return home.

Shataria Banks had flown from Houston to Miami last week for a procedure she chose not to disclose publicly. After several days of recovery, Banks returned to the airport with a doctor’s note stating she was fit to travel. But when she tried to check in at the Spirit Airlines counter, she says the staff refused to let her board.  Banks said the Spirit staff wouldn’t accept the clearance, citing that it wasn’t in a format or wording that met their requirements.

In a statement, Spirit Airlines stating their agents followed standard procedures and consulted with an on-call medical professional through their vendor, MedLink.

“The medical professional at MedLink was informed of the Guest’s documentation and advised that the Guest was not fit to travel based on their condition at the time and in the interest of their safety,”

Spirit Airlines did refund Shataria Banks and her husbands airline ticket, but the Banks had to incur the cost of hotel.  Shataria say’s she will never fly Spirit again.
