High School Trip To The Bahamas Goes Left After Teen Takes A Leap That Cost Him His Life

Every parent with teenagers develops anxiety when their child wants to go away from home without their parents supervision.  Unfortunately for a Louisiana family that anxiety is turning to mourning after a teen on a dare jumped from a cruise ship, now he is missing and after a couple days of searching the worst is being presumed.

18-year-old Cameron Robbins had been celebrating with fellow University High Lab School students on board Blackbeard’s Revenge sunset cruise on a high school graduation trip to the Bahamas, when young Cameron was given the dare to jump from the boat into the ocean at about 11:30pm.  Cameron Robbins did so with only swim trunks on and no life-jacket.  According to witnesses when Robbins tried to swim back to the ship he seemed to be drifting in the opposite direction, as people were yelling “Grab the buoy.. grab the buoy” to him. Authorities with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) and US Coast Guard launched a widespread, two-day search operation, but had to suspended the search.

The family of Cameron Robbins have returned home now after flying to the Bahamas when the search was suspended, asking for people to respect the privacy as they grieve.
