Harvey Weinstein In His 1st Interview From Prison Describes Getting Jumped And His Unforgiveness Of Gwyneth Paltrow

The interesting thing about when the rich and famous go to prison, is they find out that the prison they watched on movies exist as well as what goes on behind prison walls.  73 year old, disgraced former Hollywood film producer, now convicted sex offender, Harvey Weinstein has been imprisoned for much of the past six years while fighting multiple convictions tied to sexual misconduct.  We here reports about Harvey Weinstein but for the first time since his incarceration at the legendary ‘Rikers Island’ Weinstein spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview where he describes getting jumped in prison and his unforgiveness of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

According to Harvey Weinstein who uses a wheel chair he spends most of 24 hours a day in his cell, only socializing with prison guards and the nurse because Rikers Island is what he describes as hell much different than his experience in state prison in which he has begging to go to state prison, but allegedly the DA’s office is keeping him at ‘Rikers Island’ to keep an eye on him.

“Because you have a trial upcoming, you stay at Rikers. We want to keep an eye on you.” They kept an eye on me for 19 months now. I don’t know where they think I’m going.”

He feels that because he’s at ‘Rikers Island’ he’s forced into isolation because it’s not safe for him to be general population.

“Weinstein, give me some money.” “Weinstein, give me your lawyer.” “Weinstein, do this.” “Weinstein, do that.” I’m constantly threatened and derided. I wouldn’t last long out there.”

Harvey Weinstein also describes the time he got jumped over a phone.

One time while I was waiting to use the phone, I asked the guy in front of me if he was done. He got off and punched me hard in the face. I fell on the floor, bleeding everywhere. I was hurt really badly. The cops asked me who had done it, but I couldn’t say. You can’t be a rat. That’s the law of the jungle.

With all the humbling that comes with being incarcerated one would think that a man with Harvey Weinstein’s stature would look back over his life and think things over with a now 20/20 lens.  Although Weinstein regrets somethings his unforgiving of others, one of those is actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

During the interview, Weinstein discussed the 1990s incident in which Gwyneth Paltrow said he summoned her to his hotel suite shortly after casting her in the 1996 film Emma. Paltrow side of the story was the meeting turned uncomfortable when Weinstein suggested massages and attempted to initiate physical contact, with producer Weinstein acting aggressively after she rejected him.  Harvey Weinstein’s side of the story is interaction between them stopped once Paltrow declined.

“I walked out of a nice meeting with her and said, ‘How about a massage?’ And she just went, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ I got the message. I never put my hands on her,”

Harvey Weinstein said Gwyneth Paltrow’s decision to speak publicly about him remains one of the most painful betrayals he experienced during the scandal.

“Because she was a good friend of mine,” … “I don’t know what drove her to do what she did.”…adding that he believed the actor “wanted to be part of the crowd,” …“I won’t forgive her for that.”
