April Christina Curley a former diversity recruiter at Google is alleging that she was fired because of her accent. According to Ms. Curley her manager told her that her heavy Baltimore accent, was a “disability.” now she is putting Google on blast on Twitter.
April Christina Curley took to Twitter to say:
“repeatedly denied promotions, had my compensation cut, placed on performance improvement plans, denied leadership opportunities, yelled at, intentionally excluded from meetings….Ultimately my last manager, his manager and HR decided that the best way to shut me up was to fire me,”
According to April Christina Curley said her job at Google was to hire students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities however Curley said she saw tactics by Google “to keep black and brown students out of their pipeline.”
