Girlfriends Mara Brock Akil Has Inked A Deal With Netflix

Congratulations are in order, Mara Brock Akil thee screenwriter and television producer, that is responsible for television favorites ‘Girlfriends’, ‘The Game’ and ‘Being Mary Jane’ is bringing her talents and vision to Netflix as it is being reported that she has inked a deal to create all-new original content for Netflix.

Mara Brock Akil was also the creator of ‘Love Is_’ the television show that was based on her own personal relationship with co-producer Salim Akil.

Netflix is building an arsenal of great producers, as Mara Brock Akil will be joining Ava DuVernay (When They See Us), Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, Grey’s Anatomy) and Kenya Barris the king of -ish TV.  How about that for black excellence.
