Fred White Drummer Of EW&F Has Passed Age 67

Prayers are in order as news was shared of the passing of Fred White the prodigy drummer of the legendary band Earth Wind and Fire.

The news of Fred White’s passing was shared by his brother and founding member of Earth Wind and Fire, Verdine White via his Instagram.

“Our family is saddened today with the loss of an amazing and talented family member. Our beloved brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White,…He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte, and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels!” he added. “He was the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous! And we could always count on him to make a seemingly bad situation more light-hearted.”

Fred White was also the brother and bandmate of the late great Earth Wind and Fire creator Maurice White the innovator, a band leader, musician, music writer, and producer who created his own record label/production company named after his first love, Kalimba Music. He was the orchestrator of 21 studio albums, 4 live albums, 17 compilations, 19 video albums, and 62 singles with Earth, Wind & Fire. He was recognized for his greatness with 21 Grammy nominations and 7 Grammy Awards. He’s ensconced in the history books with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.

Fred White joined EWF in 1974 when he was just 19 years old, playing drums on 8 different Earth, Wind & Fire albums, plus some of their biggest hit songs like “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Saturday Night” and “Shining Star”.

No cause of death for Fred White has been given at this time.

We will be keeping the family, friends and colleagues of Fred White uplifted in our prayers.
