This sad altercation was caught on video.  The incident happened on a subway train northbound F train platform at Broadway-Lafayette station in downtown Manhattan.  A 30 year old black man entered the northbound train and reportedly started yelling and throwing garbage at other commuters.

According to a witness the 30 year old man said:

‘He said he had no food, he had no drink, that he was tired and doesn’t care if he goes to jail. He started screaming all these things, took off his jacket, a black jacket that he had, and threw it on the ground.’

A 24 year old white former Marine intervened placing the 30 year old in a chokehold, while others on the train restrained the 30 year old’s arms and legs, while others called the police.  The 30 year old then became still.  When EMS boarded the train the 30 year old was not breathing and they were not able to revive him.

Social media is reporting the 30 year old as a homeless man named Jordan Neely.
