Former Bad Boy Rapper Shyne Speaks on His Relationship With Diddy After 1999 Nightclub Shooting [VIDEO]

Oooh Ohhh, da dum da da dat…Bad Boy Belizean Rapper Shyne busted onto the scene in 2000, with a bonafide banger ‘Bad Boyz’ that is still rockin in clubs till this day, when his career got cut short when the verge of releasing his self titled debut album, he was involved in a nightclub shooting incident on December 27, 1999, and in June 2001 he was convicted of assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison where he continued to record music.

The album ‘Shyne’ was a huge success, however while serving his prison sentence is where the miracle for Shyne began.  Shyne became interested in Judaism, and later became observant, practicing Orthodox Judaism, officially changing his name to Moses Michael Levi Barrow in 2006. After being released from prison in 2009, he was deported to Belize. He has since been appointed the country’s Ambassador of Music charged with the sustainable development of the music industry in Belize and has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop it.

Shyne back in 2020 had this to say about what happened the night of the night club shooting:

“Scar who was the instigator … I know Scar from Brooklyn. Those are my guys. I didn’t have a problem with him; that wasn’t my beef. That was Puff’s issue. They had a problem with Puff for whatever reason. Scar, Nino and the entire Brooklyn crowd was in Club New York. I seen them, it was all love but when they started arguing with Puff … I know what these Brooklyn guys are capable of. I know what Scar is capable of. I know what Nino is capable of. I know what happens once these arguments start. Once they start, it becomes a problem — a serious problem. Once he starts talking crazy, yeah, I became afraid for my life. Once he says it’s about to happen then it’s about to happen.  “I seen somebody reach for a gun and I reached for my weapon and I defended my friends and myself. Cause once he starts firing, once whoever else pulls out a gun and starts firing, it doesn’t stop there.”

Many chastised Diddy for not helping out Shyne during his trial.  Rapper Nas even rapped about the thoughts of Diddy dissing Shyne on his 2002 cut “Purple”.

But that was then and this is now.  So how does Shyne feel about Bad Bad Records CEO, Diddy these days?

In a recent interview on ‘Drink Champs’,  Shyne had this to say:

“I don’t really blame that on him now as much as I did then,”…“Because I did go through a stage of bitterness. But in retrospect, I blame it more on the lawyers that were advising him. Because his lawyers were there to secure a ‘not guilty’ verdict by any means.”
