Prayers are in order as Fox ‘Empire’ star, 31 year old Bryshere Gray, known for his role as Hakeem Lyon and as a rapper Yazz the Greatest, who has been struggling with mental health issues since ‘Empire’ went away, has been charged with assault and battery after a private citizen in Virginia pressed charges, and an arrest warrant was issued, the charges stem from an alleged incident that took place last week at the Homewood Suites.
Born in Germantown and raised in West Philadelphia, Bryshere Gray’s testimony was that, “I was homeless, and I’m on the biggest show in the world now” however know that the lights have went out the young brotha has been struggling.
According to the alleged victim and Gray’s friend, Dustin Wilkins:
“As I was explaining to him that he can’t just leave without paying, adding you have enough problems…I am trying to save your life,” “He then charged towards me from around the car. Charged into me with his shoulder…and fighting me as I was recording the incident over the phone…a blunt blow into me and punching me.” …“Something took place in a mental health aspect. I can not disclose what happened, I can not disclose the details of that,” “All I can tell you is Bryshere is a friend, he’s like my brother. He is just someone who is dealing with some very interesting mental health issues.”
TMZ reports that Bryshere Gray was arrested on Sunday, June 15, but bonded out, with assistance from Wilkins.
Gray is expected to appear for his arraignment on Wednesday, June 18.
