Dwyane Wade Never Gave Up On His Mom Jolinda Wade And According To Her His Letters Got Her Through Prison [VIDEO]

We all know about the career of former Championship NBA star Dwyane Wade professional career and his marriage to actress Gabrielle Union.  We hear about Wades support of his children with their life choices.  However we don’t hear about often the personal ways Dwyane Wade the regular Joe chose to make lemons into lemonade in his personal life, such as before he became a star.

Dwyane Wade was born the second of two children to JoLinda and Dwyane Wade Sr. in Chicago, Illinois, on January 17, 1982.  Jolinda divorced from Wade’s father when he was a baby, becoming a struggling single, low-income mother in Chicago’s south side struggling with addictions to heroin, cocaine and alcohol.  Jolinda’s addiction worsened when Wade was sent to live with his father when he was eight.   Jolinda’s struggles with addiction also resulted in homelessness and periods of being in and out of prison. She eventually received a long prison sentence. In 1994, Jolinda was arrested for possession of crack cocaine with the intent to sell.  After her release in 2003, Jolinda pursued sobriety, became an ordained pastor, and began preaching. In 2008, Wade bought her a church in Chicago.

Dwyane Wade never gave up on his mother and she is now sharing her testimony of how his got her through prison and saved her.

During a special segment on Today with Jenna & Friends, which Wade is co-hosting this week, host Jenna Bush Hager surprised him with a pre-recorded message from his mother.

“You are and have always been a blessing,” said Jolinda. “A blessing to me and so many others whose lives you have touched.”
