ICE has been sliding into major cities as President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration has taken center stage in the first days of his second term, from his sweeping order on birthright citizenship to the growing number of raids across the country. During a recent raid in Chicago television personality Dr. Phil joined in on the raids. Dr. Phil posted a video during a ride-along with immigration agents in Chicago.
Phi McGraw, AKA Dr. Phil, a former psychologist who rose to fame alongside Oprah Winfrey and hosted “Dr. Phil” for more than two decades, said he had “embedded” with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to show what he described as the agency’s targeted efforts to apprehend “known criminals and terrorists.”
Not only did Dr. Phil ride-along and take videos to post, he actually questioned people being detained, thinking that they wouldn’t recognize him.
“You’ve never been deported before?” -Dr. Phil
“You’re Dr. Phil?! – The Man
After other questions by Dr. Phil the man asked for a lawyer. Then in a video post on X, McGraw described the man as a “convicted sex offender and internet predator”
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul reaction to CNN’s Jim Acosta about Dr. Phil’s actions was:
“I think it’s ridiculous,” “It’s making a mockery of what is supposed to be a focused…if it’s law enforcement, if it’s focusing on criminals, you don’t invite folks like that who have no law enforcement background to be embedded within. I think it’s inappropriate. I think it’s done for the show, and I think it’s done to upset the community and to score political points with those who want to divide.”
