Donald Trump Say’s America Was Strongest Between 1870 and 1913 [VIDEO]

President Donald Trump announced sweeping new duties last week on all U.S. trade partners, including a new baseline 10% duty, on a day he dubbed “Liberation Day” which sparked ‘Hands Off’ rallies across America over the weekend.  Americans ‘Hands Off’ was a response to actions such as the firing of thousands of federal workers, the deportation of immigrants, the cuts in federal funding for health programs, and many more changes caused by the current administration.  Donald  Trump took to his Truth Social app to issue a warning to China and Beijing regarding their retaliatory 34% tariffs following his announcement of global tariffs. He claims that if they don’t reverse the decision by tomorrow, April 8, he will impose an additional 50% tariff on China and cancel all plans for future meetings.

Donald Trump to reassure Americans that he knows what he is doing economically, gave a short history lesson as to where he is trying to get back to when America was great.

“You know, our country was the strongest, believe it or not, from 1870 to 1913. You know why? It was all tariff based. We had no income tax.” –Donald Trump

In 1870 a Virginia law made it illegal for black and white children to attend the same schools.  In 1870, the 15th Amendment granted voting rights to men regardless of race, while the Enforcement Acts aimed to protect those rights, but by 1913, President Woodrow Wilson extended segregation to federal workplaces, marking a setback for civil rights.

The United States Supreme Court ruled in Civil Rights Cases of 1883 that the Civil Rights Act of 1875 was unconstitutional. The Court ruled that the 14th Amendment prohibited states, but not citizens, from discriminating. This civil rights reversal was devastating for African Americans.

Historically following the ‘strong 1870 to 1913’  was the Great Depression, which began in 1929, that ended with the start of World War II in 1939 and the subsequent massive government spending and industrial mobilization for the war effort, which created jobs and stimulated the economy.

If you don’t know your history you will repeat your past?  History shows that both those who do not learn history and those who do learn history are doomed to repeat it.
