People were shocked and outraged last week when ABC announced that it was pulling Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show “indefinitely” after conservatives accused the longtime host of inaccurately describing the politics of the man who is accused of fatally shooting the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Many celebrities including former President Barack Obama took to social media to voice their disapproval along with regular Joe’s cancelations of their Disney, ESPN and Hulu subscriptions in boycott. It hasn’t even been a week and Disney is announcing the the Jimmy Kimmel Show will return on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, said in a statement to CNN.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
No word has been heard from the White House about this decision as of yet.
