Diddy Wants A Mistrial Because Of Dismissal Of A Black Juror

Diddy Say’s He Wants A Mistrial Because Of Dismissal Of A Black Juror

Team Diddy filed a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian Sunday evening, claiming that, while the Court might believe the prosecution’s questions about a juror’s inconsistent answers during voir dire, where  jurors are questioned to decide whether they can be fair and impartial, are sincere, the government is just finding pretense to dismiss a juror because of their race.  In this particular case the juror in question, whom is black, had inconsistent answers about their residency during voir dire.  Questions arose over whether the juror resided in New York or New Jersey most of the time.

Despite Team Diddy’s efforts the judge dismissed the juror in the sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs on Monday after concluding that his conflicting answers about where he lives might indicate he had an agenda or wanted to stay on the jury for a purpose.

According to Judge Arun Subramanian:

“Taking these all together, the record raised serious concerns as to the juror’s candor and whether he shaded answers to get on and stay on the jury,”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial is taking place in Manhattan and jurors must be residents of the Southern District of New York, which includes Manhattan, the Bronx, and parts of the Hudson Valley.  Therefore the juror will be replaced by an alternate.
