Detroit Mom Charged After Admitting To Taking Knife To Her Daughter In School To Stab Another Student [VIDEO]

Bulling has been around since the beginning of time.  It’s an act that traumatizes many children in school and we have all heard stories of school systems not doing enough to protect the bullied.  However as angry as bullying might make us the handling of bullies has gotten out of control.  A Detroit mother was arraigned after admittedly bringing a knife to her 13 year old daughter at her middle school so she could stab another teen girl.

Wayne County prosecutors allege that the teen and another student were attending Gompers Elementary-Middle School in Detroit, when 37 year old Lacara Anita Parks, gave her 13 year old daughter a pocketknife on school property to be used if she needed to defend herself while returning home from school.  A short time later her daughter had stabbed another 13 year old five times. 

According to the victims mother, the violence stemmed from an altercation between the two students that occurred Monday. Two days later, the suspect’s mother brought a knife to the school building, which set off a metal detector. However, the district says the school security guard never searched the woman, allowing her to give the weapon to her daughter, who then used it in the stabbing.

“What if it was a gun? If you didn’t search and that was a knife, just imagine if it was a gun that she brought in,” –The Victims Mother

According to Detroit City Council President Pro Tem James Tate:

“An incident like this requires action beyond school administrators and government officials,” “It takes the entire community to show our students they are loved and supported. These young people are future scientists, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, doctors, and leaders. It’s on all of us to help clear the path so they can thrive.”

The 13 year old who was stabbed survived and is now home recovering.  Lacara Anita Parks, who admitted to bringing her daughter the knife to school is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of a weapon in a weapons-free school zone.  A judge gave her a $50,000 personal bond, and she must also be placed on a GPS tether.  Parks 13 year old daughter is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and possession of a weapon in a weapons-free school zone.
