It is fact that there is a gang as well as gun violence problem in Chicago, Illinois, there are a high number of murders that include innocent children. It is scary for people to have something as simple and innocent as a child’s birthday party or a family get together can become deadly for the unsuspecting when struck by a stray bullet that wasn’t even intended for them. Going to a funeral can be a challenge from gangs trying to make a statement about their presences or send a message to the surviving while disrespecting the dead. These things are known facts of an ugly problem but the burning question/debate is what is the solution? According to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot…file a lawsuit against the gangs.
Yes you heard/read that right. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot in an announcement on Tuesday where Mayor Lightfoot introduced an ordinance that allows the city to sue local gangs up to $10,000 in fines per offense and the ability to seize any property that is directly or indirectly used or intended for use in any manner to facilitate street gang-related activity.
“As a city, we are using every tool to push back against the gangs that are leaving a trail of blood, death, and misery in their wake,”
The only question is now how do you sue a gang…do they file taxes or complete a 1099? #IJS
