Former Laker, New Orleans Pelicans star guard Lonzo Ball was traded to the Chicago Bulls in August 2021 but missed significant time while recovering from three surgeries on his left knee. The Cleveland Cavalier are trying to get back to the championship promise land that LeBron James brought them to in 2016. The Cavaliers this past season posted up the second best record in the 24/25 season only to get bounced unceremoniously to the Indiana Pacers in the playoffs. The Cavaliers seem to be right there but injuries and missing the right piece and parts to bring it all together. In an effort to do so the Cleveland Cavaliers have traded forward Isaac Okoro for Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, a major win for the franchise, according to the immediate reaction.
Lonzo Ball gives Cleveland a premium backup option behind all-star Darius Garland. Ball averaged 7.6 points, 3.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 35 games for the Bulls this season after a two-year absence from a knee injury. With two years remaining on a $20 million deal, Ball provides Cleveland with contract flexibility given a second-year option within the deal.
