Bodycam Released of LAPD Shooting That Killed 14 Year Old Girl

Days before Christmas 14 year old Valentina Orellana-Peralta and her mother, Soledad Peralta, were shopping at Burlington Coat Factory for a dress for Christmas when they heard screaming, the mother and daughter hid in a dressing room holding each other praying when a bullet penetrated the dressing room striking the 14 year old.  14 year old Valentina died in her mothers arms, from what they later found out was a bullet fired from a Los Angeles Police officer.

What happened?

Allegedly 24 year old Daniel Elena-Lopez entered the Burlington Coat Factory store in North Hollywood with his bike and began swinging his bike lock at customers, attacking several female customers and smashing shelves.  Someone called 911 stating someone was in the store shooting.  Police arrived, finding a bloody person on the floor.  Police then see Daniel Elena-Lopez  and start shooting.  Police fatally shot Daniel Elena-Lopez in the chest but one of the bullets fired struck 14 year old Valentina in the chest killing her.

The bodycam of the incident has now been released and Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump is now representing the family of Valentina Orellana-Peralta.
