‘Black Panther’ Director Mistaken For A Bank Robber In The ATL

The movie the ‘Black Panther’ started a movement and glorified black excellence with a Marvel movie depicting a predominately black cast with movie goers proclaiming ‘Wakanda Forever’ but that was in 2018 as it seems that the pandemic has covered ‘Wakanda Forever’ with Wakanda produced a bank robber as it has been reported that ‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler was mistaken as a bank robber when he went to make a withdrawal from a bank in of all places Black Hollywood, Atlanta.

What had happened was…

Back in January Ryan Coogler walked into a local Bank of America in Atlanta, wearing sunglasses, a hat, and a mask and asked the cashier to “discreetly” withdraw $12,000 from his account.  He reportedly passed the cashier a note which read:

“I would like to withdraw $12,000 CASH from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.”

The teller got freaked out and called the police.  The police arrived and detained two other people outside in Ryan Coogler’s car before walking the multiple award winning director out in handcuffs, all of this before realizing that a huge mistake had been made.

According to Ryan Coogler:

“This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on.”

Ryan Coogler his given us phenomenal black films over the years such as ‘Fruitvale Station’, ‘Creed’ as well as ‘The Black Panther’
