Aunties Are Freaking Out About The Hulu ‘Freaknik’ Documentary [VIDEO]

In 1983  there was a small picnic in a public park near the Atlanta University Center for students who could not afford to return home for spring break.  By the 90’s that small picnic had turned into an annual event that was held during the third weekend in April that grew into a phenomenon known as ‘Freaknik‘, Atlanta’s most infamous street party.  The event was shut down in 1999.  Others have tried to duplicate it, but it was never quite the same.

40 years later, Hulu is now bringing the legend of ‘Freaknik’ to the documentary stream.  “Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told” “recounts the rise and fall of a small Atlanta HBCU picnic that exploded into an influential street party and spotlighted ATL as a major cultural stage,” per Hulu’s description. “Can the magic of Freaknik be brought back 40 years later?

Now 40 years later the Aunties that were kickn’ it at Freaknik in the 80’s and 90’s, are different people now, and they are freaking out because they fear their Freaknik ways that was filmed on some random persons camcorder back then, might make onto the Hulu documentary stream.

A TikToker named Tina posted a clip that’s making the rounds, she’s not so much worried about herself in this instance … as she says she would always avoid the giant video cameras that were being busted out left and right — a staple of Freaknik culture, it seems, in those days. She says she never did anything crazy or regretful on tape — but the same can’t be said for others, and she’s nervous for them.

Did you go to Freaknik?  Are you worried about your children and grandchildren possibly seeing you drop it like it’s hot on top of a car hood in Hot-lanta?

Take a look at the video below.
