Shedeur Sanders endured a lot this weekend, first falling out of the first round of the NFL draft all the way through the fourth round, before finally being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round with the 144th pick. Needless to say the world to the least was in shock with every round that passed by that no NFL team called Shedeur Sanders number.
In the midst of waiting to hear his named called Shedeur Sanders on Day 2 of the draft Friday, quarterback receivied a call from someone impersonating New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis.
The caller told Sanders: “We’re going to take you with our next pick, man, but you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that.”
A confused Shedeur Sanders response was “What does that mean?”
Needles to say the the poor in taste prank went viral on social media with almost nobody thinking it was funny. Many thought who and how did this happen? Come to find out it was the Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator son, hence the Atlanta Falcons coming out with a public apology.
The Atlanta Falcons said in a statement Sunday that 21-year-old Jax Ulbrich wrote down the number from his father Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich’s, open iPad while visiting his parents’ home “to later conduct a prank call.”
Jax Ulbrich wrote in a post that what he did was “completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.”
“On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake. Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful. I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”
