Aldis Hodge Says Author James Patterson Turned Down 7 Figures Refusing To Make ‘Cross’ A White Man

Everybody has been loving Amazon’s original crime series ‘Cross’‘Cross’ Based on NY Times Bestselling author James Patterson’s #1 hero, Cross is a crime thriller that follows the investigations of brilliant forensic psychologist and DC Metro Detective Alex Cross. Together with his best friend and partner Detective John Sampson, Cross delves into the psyches of America’s most insidious killers while fighting to protect his family from the dangers of the criminal world

The star Aldis Hodge who plays the role of Alex Cross in a recent interview says that author of the ‘Cross’ books turned down seven figures refusing to turn his main character into a white man.

Aldis Hodge, star of Cross, expressed being “shocked” when he learned that author James Patterson turned down a seven-figure offer to make Alex Cross a white man.  This offer came when Patterson was shopping the first book in the series to publishers, not from Amazon. Patterson refused the deal, staying true to the character’s Black identity.  Hodge, said, “I was shocked, impressed, and proud of that.”

“For me to step into these shoes, any time I step into a position of power or representation, it feels like a privilege and a responsibility that I’m honored to even be tasked with. I just want to carry that the right way.”

Author James Patterson previously told The Hollywood Reporter

“I did not have a lot of money,” “They said, ‘We just want one change; we want Alex to be a white guy.’ And I said, ‘F*** you.'”

‘Cross’ that dropped on Amazon Prime in November had 40 million viewers in its first 20 days, making it Prime Video’s third-biggest season premiere of 2024.
