67 Year Old Found Guilty Of Killing 5 Year Old Stepdaughter In 1978 After The Victims Brother Finally Tells The Truth [VIDEO]

What’s done in the dark always comes to light, and the case of a 67 year old woman that light came  over 40 years later, when a court found her guilty of killing her 5 year old stepdaughter in 1978.  The light was the victims brother that finally told the truth.

According to reports, Andrea Bernard was just 5 years old when she suffered devastating burns during an incident at her South London home in June 1978. For years, the case was reportedly treated as a tragic accident after authorities were told the little girl slipped into extremely hot bath water. Andrea later died in the hospital weeks after suffering severe injuries across much of her body.   In 2022 Andrea’s older brother, Desmond, went to police and admitted he says he lied as a child out of fear. During the trial, he testified that their stepmother, Janice Nix, had a history of abuse and allegedly threatened him into supporting her version of events. He told jurors he remembered hearing Andrea crying that the water was too hot before screams filled the house.  Desmond also recalled seeing his sister motionless in the bathtub afterward with horrifying injuries to her skin.

On Tuesday, May 26, a jury found Janice Nix, 67,  guilty of manslaughter in relation to the death of Andrea Bernard and of child cruelty toward the victim’s older brother, Desmond.  Nix allegedly beat the children and made them eat cat food.
