In the beginning ‘Power’ was created on Starz by ‘Power’ God Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and ‘Power’ Goddess Courtney Kemp. With the ending of ‘Power’ came the divorce of 50 Cent and Courtney Kemp which was caused by Ghost.
In a recent interview 50 Cent revealed for the first time what happened between himself and Courtney Kemp.
According to 50 Cent, things became difficult behind the scenes, with growing friction involving both Courtney and Omari Hardwick. 50 Cent also claimed that Courtney Kemp, (whose moto on ‘Power’ was nobody was above getting un-alived) wanted to kill off Ghost much earlier than she eventually did, a move that kept ‘Power’ from continuing well beyond the 6 seasons it succumbed too.
“I wouldn’t have killed him. It could’ve still been running right now.”
According to Fifty, Courtney Kemp would have offed Ghost, when Kanan got offed but he felt he had a pulse on what the fans wanted and killing Ghost wasn’t it.
While the main ‘Power’ series ended in 2020, the Power universe continued with several spin-offs, including Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force.
Courtney Kemp is currently the co-creator and executive producer of the 8-episode psychological heist thriller Nemesis on Netflix.
