10yr Old Philly Medical Jet Crash Survivor In January 2025 Meets His Rescuer For The First Time

A Medical Learjet 55 departed the Northeast Philadelphia Airport carrying 6 passengers four crew members and two passengers in January of 2025, once it reached an altitude of 1,600 feet 30 seconds later, it disappeared from radar.  The plane had crashed in the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue near the Roosevelt Mall shopping center In Philadelphia . At least three nearby homes were set ablaze near the intersection of St. Vincent and Calvert streets.  Nine year old  Ramesses Dreuitt Vazquez was in his family’s car when a medical transport plane crashed, and the car caught on fire. His father and his father’s girlfriend died from their injuries. Vazquez was saved by a stranger, but sustained burns on 90% of his body.

Almost a year later Ramesses Dreuitt Vazquez now 10 years old has finally returned home following months of surgeries and rehabilitation in Boston and New Jersey and got to meet the man who had saved his life Caseem Wongus.

Caseem Wongus had last seen the child staggering from a flaming car after a medical jet crashed onto Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, now Ramesses Dreuitt Vazquez scooted his wheelchair on a Mount Airy playground, pressing the ground with his sneakers to approach the man credited with saving his life., Caseem Wongus.

Ramesses smiled through his scars, reaching his arm out to greet Caseem. Caseem Wongus bent down and hugged him and said:

“I’m glad to see him with his family and to see how well he’s doing — seeing him just trying to function as a kid again and scooting around in the wheelchair on the basketball court,“
