Congratulations are in order as it has been reported that Just Another Kid From Akron, Brandon Weems has been promoted to GM for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Brandon Weems who is like a brother to LeBron James, after playing high school basketball with James at Akron St. Vincent St. Mary, played collegiately at Walsh University before joining coaching staffs for Oakland University, Drexel and Kentucky. Weems has been with Cleveland for a decade and had various scouting and personnel roles prior to becoming the assistant GM in 2022. Since Weems became the assistant GM in Cleveland in February 2022, the Cavaliers have made the playoffs four consecutive years. Last year was their deepest run during that span, as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the New York Knicks.
