R&B Singer Brandy Has Got Next Singing The Iconic ‘A Different World’ Theme Song For The Reboot [VIDEO]

The Cosby Show spin-off ‘A Different World’ first aired in 1987 and rocked hard for six seasons, highlighting black excellence in education, theater, music and much more on the mythical campus of Hillman College a television campus that represented all HBCU’s.  Everything about ‘A Different World’ was iconic including the theme song and as we approach the return to ‘A Different World’ a reboot that stars the children of the original Hillman, R&B singer Brandy got tapped as next to belt out ♫ I know my parents loved me / Stand behind me come what may, It’s a different world (Ooh, ooh) Than where you come from ♫

First a little unknown history fact about the ‘A Different World’ theme song:

Phoebe Snow sang the theme song for the first season of A Different World. The iconic track was co-written by cast member Dawnn Lewis (Jaleesa Vinson–Taylor on the show) alongside Stu Gardner and Bill Cosby.  The song was sang by the legendary Queen of Soul for seasons 2 through 5 with Motown Philly’s 4 part harmony Kings, Boyz II Men picking up the baton for season 6.

Netflix released a video of  Grammy award winning singer Brandy performing ‘A Different Worlds’ reboot theme song, which features an original beat and lyrics from previous versions.

The new show ‘A Different World’, which premieres on Netflix on Sept. 24, brings back other legacy cast members, like everybody’s favorite odd couple Whitley Gilbert and Dwayne Wayne played by Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison.
