Oprah Winfrey was down in Cannes telling some things that we probably didn’t have to know. During a sit-down at Lumière Theatre, Oprah highlighted the responsibility of media and how strong of an influence they have, when she decided to use her interview with the late Whitney Houston as an example. The part we really didn’t need to know was according to Oprah, Whitney had fallen off the wagon which prompted her to fall of Oprah’s stage. Mind you this was pre-social media, but people did still carry personal cameras to take pictures for themselves and in this case their picture of Whitney Houston falling off the stage could have earned them a lot of money but ruined Whitney Houston. Oprah say’s that she used her influence to have people to keep their photos to themselves. Whitney Houston’s family responded to Oprah Winfrey’s, why now moment, with an Oprah is a lie when when the truth would do.
Whitney Houston’s former bodyguard, Ray Watson is too now speaking out to back up her estate and tell the story, according to him, on what happened that day on stage at The Oprah Show, that substance abuse had absolutely nothing to do with that stumble.
In an exclusive interview with TMZ, Ray Watson backed up the estate’s version of events, explaining that the whole situation boiled down to a simple accident and terrible stage lighting. He explained that Whitney was walking toward the front of the stage during production and literally just couldn’t see where the platform ended. “No drugs involved,” Ray confirmed, completely shutting down the narrative that our girl was under the influence while trying to deliver a performance.
The biggest question on everyone’s mind is, whether she was high or not, why is this even being brought up now, especially, according to Oprah, she used her influence to protect Whitney from photos that may have been taken by audience members? Is this the kind of Oprah stuff Mo’Nique was talking about??
